Description:

  • Balmoral is pretty. It's the North-side's favorite harbor, and on nice summer days can be packed with happy locals soaking up the sun and munching on chips. The atmosphere in this part of town is very different from that of the fashionable eastern beaches, with the pencil-thin models and oddly muscular men - rather, you'll find the families here. There is even a netted pool, for those nervous nellies with a shark phobia (which is fair enough - quite a lot make their way into the harbour). There's even a cute island (connected to the mainland by a bridge) for the kids to explore.

    There are certainly worse places to wile away an afternoon.

  • My son and his family live just up the road from Balmoral Beach. I love everything about it. I go there every time I visit even in winter just to walk along the beach is lovely.
