Chao Zhou Bao Zi

  • Cuisines: Asian, Chinese
  • NileGuide Expert tip:

Ask your hotel front desk to write down your order in Chinese before you go.

  • Description:

    • Steamed buns, or baozi, are a breakfast staple throughout Taiwan and China. While steamed pork buns are the most common type, Chao Zhou Baozi has made the food breakthrough of the century by stuffing their buns with bacon and cheese, a match made in heaven. Even if you don't make it for breakfast, get there and order as many of these bits of perfection as humanly possible. It will be worth every cheap bite.

The menu is all in Chinese and most of the staff won't speak English, so you'll have to brush up on your Mandarin before heading out. If you have the facilities, the buns freeze and reheat very well, so buy a few extra for the rest of your trip.
