Shilin Night Market

  • NileGuide Expert tip:

Bring plenty of small bills as vendors won't take cards and may not have change for large bills.

    Description:

    • Arguably the best part about the Shilin night market is the food. On nearly every corner and down every back alley you'll find vendors cooking up fresh, hot, and tasty treats that you simply can't get in restaurants. Come hungry and start with a stroll through the main market area. Be sure to try the fish balls, oyster pancakes, and steamed dumplings when you see them. If you're really hungry, head to the large covered food market across the street from the main market and the MRT station. Here you'll find Taipei's famous chicken steak, stinky tofu, grilled seafood, and candied fruit. Wash it all down with bubble tea, a phenomenon started in Taiwan. To find the best eats, look for the long lines.  That's where the good stuff is.
