NileGuide Expert tip:
Pack a picnic lunch or snack to enjoy as you take in the views.
Description:
- The Taipei 101 Observatory gives you the best view of the surrounding city, but the Taipei 101 itself is what you really want to see from afar. A quick hike up elephant mountain, about an hour round trip, gives you just that view. And, now for the best part...it's free!
To get there, simply walk east along XinYi Rd. Sec. 5 and you'll see a sign for the trail head at the end of the road, just past Song Ren Rd. and NY Bagels. For the best view, head out before sunset with a flashlight and your camera. The sun sets behind and to the side of Taipei 101, so you'll get a great silhouette of the world's second tallest building.
