Description:

Seven Star Mountain is not only the highest point in Yangmingshan National Park and in Taiwan north of Taipei, it's also located within Taipei city limits. Trails leading up to the peak of the mountain, called Mount Qixing in Chinese, each take about three hours and range from 3.9 to 5.7 kilometers. Once you reach the peak, you'll be rewarded with 360-degree scenic views that take in the entire city of Taipei to the south and the coastline to the north.

September and May tend to be wet and rainy on Seven Star Mountain, so it's a good idea to wear anti-slip shoes and pack rain gear. During the winter months, the winds on the relatively unprotected trail can get fierce. The trails to the top don't have much shade and large portions of the trails include stone steps, so dress and plan accordingly.
