Located about half a block from the beach in a tropical oasis with other small resorts, Captiva Beach Resort, Sarasota's first Green Lodging, eco-friendly resort, is very popular with longer-term guests during winter, Europeans during the summer. Every one of the comfortable, sparkling-clean units here has some form of cooking facility and five-star queen-size pillow-top beds, and some have separate living rooms with sleeper sofas. These are older buildings, so you'll find window air conditioners mounted through the walls; however, the property has been upgraded for all the modern conveniences, such as high-speed Internet connection and bottle-quality water at every faucet. Rooms also have personal barbecues, beach chairs, and umbrellas. You'll get fresh linens and towels daily except Sunday. Daily maid service is available for a small fee. Guests get complimentary use of sand toys. Several restaurants and shops are a short walk away.
