Description:

  • The silver museum holds a small collection of exquisite silver pieces, the most interesting of which is La Conquista de Anahuac, in which copper Aztec warriors and silver Spanish conquistadors face off on a chess board made with black wood and oyster shell. The owner, Antonio Pineda, declined a $1-million offer to sell it. This museum represents his private collection and includes silver pieces from throughout the last century, such as coins, sculptures, jewelry, and crowns. A mural created by a local artist represents the history of Mexico's silver industry.
