  • Standing proudly on the top of the hill in what could be considered the best location in Colonia Palmira, the 10-story Honduras Maya hotel and convention center is a favorite of both business travelers and tourists. Much of the hotel has been renovated in the past few years, which has definitely helped revive it. Don't worry, though; the Maya designs on the boxy facade are still there. The rooms, comparable to the Marriott and Real Intercontinental, have all been given a face-lift as well. Corner rooms have windows on two sides and thus the best views, which on clear days at sundown show the city in a beautiful glow. There are several terraces with restaurants and bars, as well as a few shops and an attached casino, the best in the capital. On weekends, the hotel often hosts weddings and private parties and may fill up with people milling about with cocktails.
