NileGuide Expert Says:

This minature version of the Netherlands gives you a great perspective about the whole of the country even if you don't have time to visit everything. Kids and adults both enjoy the experience. It's one of the Netherlands most visited attractions - mainly by the Dutch themselves.

Description:

If you don't have time to see the whole of The Netherlands during your stay, then Madurodam model village, located close to the Hague, is a good alternative. The whole of the Netherlands is replicated in miniature, complete with canals, gabled houses and all kinds of other typical Dutch scenes. The miniature cities, which are perfect to the last detail, offer you the highlights of the Netherlands on a scale of 1:25.

Whilst it's designed with kids in mind, it's equally as exciting for adults who can get there bearings regarding key Dutch cities and use it as a living guide book. If there's something that catches your eye in perfect miniature, you may want to go and visit the real thing.

The concept of Madurodam hasn't changed since 1952.The biggest building project after the opening was the renewed Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. In 2003 the new airport was opened after a complete renovation. On the platform there is a new induction technique which enables the three-meter long aircraft to taxi along the runway.

Look out for special events, including light and laser shows and special exhibitions which provide educative and interesting displays about, for example, the Netherlands battle against water.

Madurodam is located around 45 minutes from Amsterdam by a train connection which runs several times per hour.
