Otemachi Cafe

Description:

• The Otemachi Café has taken sustainability to a whole new level. Most everything about the building is recycled, from the marble and wood in the bar, to the melted-down mobile-phones and plastic bags used to make the tables, to the whiskey barrels used to make the chairs. A lovely indoor garden with small trees and trickling water complete the green-theme. The food is fresh and mostly organic. There's even an area where you can learn where all of the ingredients in your food came from. Dishes like the Saffron Rice Omelette or Shellfish Spaghetti are healthy and hearty choices, and the desert menu is satisfactory as well, with items such as strawberry cake, chocolate mousse, and vanilla ice cream topped with coffee. The café is open Monday through Saturday from 9:30a-11p, but food is only served from 11a-2p and 6p-9p. The café is often used as a venue to host a variety of ecological-themed conferences and exhibitions (check website for specifics).
