Shimoda Yamatokan

Shimoda Yamatokan - Tokyo

  • Description:

    • Shimoda Yamatokan is a deluxe resort hotel, close to the beaches of the Izu Peninsula. Shimoda City is famous as the site where Commodore Perry's "black ships" dropped anchor in 1853. On May 16-18 the town holds its popular Kurofune Matsuri, or blackship festival, with brass bands and a parade. The water in Shimoda Onsen is simple thermal, good for rheumatism, skin problems and neuralgia. Shimoda Yamatokan offers deluxe tile baths, both men's and women's indoor and outdoor baths. Shimoda is famous for seafood and the hotel specializes in exotic preparations of the local fish.
