- Yanagiya is a traditional Japanese inn, which offers fine hot-spring bathing and great food. Yanagiya's water comes from Shibahara Onsen, known for its seven cold-spring baths. Don't worry about taking a cold bath; the water in the public baths is well heated, made of wood and black slate. An integral of the experience of staying at a ryokan is the food, sumptuous and grown locally. The dining delights include persimmon stuffed with walnut, braised trout, raw carp and the inn's famous handmade soba (buckwheat noodles).
