• Although it is right on Roppongi crossing, when you walk into Shimauta you leave behind the hustle and bustle of Tokyo and step into the tropics. This Okinawan izakaya (traditional Japanese-style pub) serves up some excellent dishes from Japan's southern-most island. It also sometimes stages traditional Okinawan music concerts. All the best Okinawan dishes are available. There is, for example, tonkatsu, tender pork simmered in stock and soy sauce, chanpuru, tofu and seasonal vegetables stir-fried, and delicious Okinawan noodles. And to help the food down, there is even Orion beer on tap.
