Hakone Museum of Art

Hakone Museum of Art - Tokyo

  • Description:

    • Mokichi Okada established the Hakone Museum in 1952. The core of the collection is medieval ceramics from Japan, some dating to the Jomon period. Haniwa, Yayoi, Tamba, Bizen, Tokoname, Echizen, Seto and Shigaraki pieces are well represented. The grounds, which are 630 meters above sea level, include a Japanese-landscaped moss garden called Shinsenkyo and a tea house called Shinwatei, as well as a nice bamboo grove.
