- Kikuya Ryokan is located in Shuzenji, a picturesque onsen (spa) village that stretches out along the crystal-clear Katsura River, spanned by red Chinese-style bridges. The waters are simple thermal with traces of sodium chloride, good for soothing aches and pains, skin problems and nervous disorders as well as for speeding recovery from accidents, surgeries and illnesses. The famous writer Natsume Soseki stayed here while being treated for stomach ulcers. He wrote about his stay in Shuzenji Nikka (Shuzenji Diary). Room rates include dinner and breakfast.
