Kumagai Tsuneko Memorial Hall

Description:

  • Tsuneko Kumagai is one of the few Japanese women whose accomplishments have merited a memorial. Her specialty was the art of calligraphy. A native of Kyoto, she later made her home in Tokyo. Housed in her former residence, there is a tastefully assembled set of memorabilia connected with her life and art, such as samples of her work, brushes and family photographs. Take some time to visit the impressive library. There is also an opportunity to sit down and try calligraphy yourself.
