Description:
- This museum is a memorial to the historian Kunitake Kume (1839-1931) and his son, Kiichiro (1866-1934), an early modern Western painter. Kiichiro went to France in 1885 to be taught by Raphael Collin. He returned to Japan in 1892, became professor of Western painting at Tokyo Art School and director of the Imperial Art Academy. Among his well-known pieces are: "The Sea Brehat", "Kiyomizu Temple", "A Woman in the Nude" and "Autumn Scene". In addition to personal memorabilia, the museum holds works from Kiichiro's contemporaries, Eisaku, Wada, Seiki, Kuroda, Raphael Collin, and Ichiro Yuasa.
