Description:
- The judicial ties of Meiji University stretch back to 1881. This particular museum was established in 1929 to archive criminology records. There are more than 250,000 items stored here which include magazines, books, and historical records of crimes committed.
Punishment of crime is also featured--for example, the imaginative methods of torture over the ages are depicted in wood-block prints. But the heart of the collection lies in chilling replicas of the apparatus used for punishment--a 16th century guillotine, a display of rock torture and the dreaded Iron Maiden.
