Description:
- In Japanese the festival is called shichi-go-san, which means seven-five-three, the ages at which Japanese superstition holds that children are greatly susceptible to misfortune. So each year, boys and girls of those ages, dressed in their best Japanese kimono costumes, are taken by their parents to the shrines to pray for their protection, future successes and good fortune, as well as to say thanks to the gods for their good health. In Tokyo, the most popular shrines are the Meiji Jingu Shrine, the A Hie Shrine (6am-5pm), and the 神田明神 Kanda Myojin Shrine.
