- Shirakabaso is a large, hospitable Japanese inn situated high in the Hida mountains. In keeping with cold climate tradition, there are open-hearth fireplaces in many of the public rooms. Shirakabaso mixes elements of the past with the modern conveniences you would expect in a deluxe hotel. There are men's and women's indoor baths. There is also an outdoor bath with fantastic alpine views. After you bath take a stroll through the lovely garden and sit beside the working water wheel. The food here is first class and features many regional dishes.
