Takabannoyu

Description:

  • Takabannoyu, or Bathhouse Takaban, is situated in a new two-story building, with baths on both floors. Traditionally, the men's baths are larger and nicer than the women's baths. Previous to the arrival of western influence all baths were communal. However, in the Meiji era, shocked foreigners forced the segregation of bathing facilities. The males kept the original baths.

Takabannoyu alternates the location of the men's and women's baths every day. One of the baths features the jungle look. There is a sauna available at extra charge.
