Zojoji Temple

  • User Review:

    • Zojoji Temple(増上寺) is one of the 7 head temples of Jodo shu Buddhism school(浄土宗). The temple itself was originated in late 14th century, and it had been moved to the current place in late 16th century. It was selected as a family temple for Tokugawa shogunate family. There are graves for some of those Shoguns from Edo Tokugawa era at the back of the temple. You can also enjoy the good contrast of the view of classical temple and the modern Tokyo Tower. Access: 10 minutes walking from JR/Hamamatsucho station or Tokyo Metro/Daimon station
