Description:

  • The El Mocambo is enjoying a revival after a slump in popularity during the 1990s. Once again a popular music venue with stages on each of two floors and hosting a wide variety of acts from heavy metal to classical, the El Mocambo also has a very long history in Toronto's music scene. The location housed a music venue as far back as the 1850s. It became the El Mocambo in 1946, and over the years has seen performances by such stars as Marilyn Monroe, U2, The Police, Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones. The Stones even chose it as a venue to record one of their live performances which was later released on one of their albums. There is a calendar of current performances on the club's website.
