Neighborhood Description

Downtown

Toronto's downtown encompasses the Financial and Entertainment districts as well as Queen's Park. This area is perfect for travelers interested in checking out Toronto's bustling clubs, busy commerce hub and political centre.

The aesthetic of the Financial district, which stretches north-south between Front and Adelaide streets, and east-west between York and Yonge streets, will wrap visitors in the big city vibe. Its skyscrapers and bank towers blend with historic buildings, making bodies on the street look and feel small. Restaurants and bars, catering to the corporate work force and wanderers alike, are a point of attraction, but a particular gem is the Allen Lambert Galleria in Brookfield Place. This space plays host to exhibitions like the World Press Photo tour and is a vestige of art in the midst of commerce.

The Entertainment district covers the blocks between Queen Street West and the Gardiner Expressway at the lake shore, York Street West and Spadina Avenue. Aptly named, this neighbourhood is concentrated with the big names in Toronto's entertainment venues. The Princess of Wales Theatre, Second City, Roy Thomson Hall, the Royal Alexandra Theatre and Canada's Walk of Fame are all here.  Brimming with nouveau restaurant options, nightclubs, concert venues, new galleries and boutique shopping, the Entertainment district boasts attractions suitable for all times of day.
