Ile du Ramier

• For a more athletic walk or bicycle ride, check out the park on Ramier Island. It is located on a peninsula between two waterways, and the footpath runs past strange looking buildings that used to be part of a gunpowder factory. The park is peaceful and fairly wild, and many birds live here. When you've finished your walk, it's easy to get back to the town center: simply follow the bicycle track along the dike, which affords a great view of the Garonne River. You can also visit the North of the island: there's a new stadium, an outdoor swimming pool, an exhibition center, and a nineteenth-century hydroelectric factory.
