- Akkar (Arabic: عكار) is a district (Qada') in the North Governorate, Lebanon. It covers an area of 788 km2 .The capital lies at Halba The district is characterized by the presence of a relatively large coastal plain, with high mountains to the east. The largest cities in Akkar are Halba, El-Bireh (previously called "Biret el Hokem" were we find the Castle of Merheb Family), Kobay...at (Quobayet). Akkar has many important Roman and Arabic archeological sites. One of the most famous archaeological sites and the birth place of the Emperor Alexander Severus, is the Tell of Arqa near the town of Miniara. Ammoua very near to 2bayet is one of the most beautiful forests in Lebanon, filled with trees like : shou7,and pine trees , from Ammoua u can have a panoramic view of 2bayet 3ekar el 3ati2a rahbe ,sahel akkar and many other perfect to those who would love to take pictures of nature .
