Donner Memorial State Park

Description:

  • Historic for its tragic tale of the Donner Party's crossing of the Sierra Nevada, the area is now famous for outdoor recreation; to include water sports, hiking, camping, and fishing in the summer; to snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing in the winter. A day well spent consists of visiting the Emigrant Trail Museum in the morning, to hiking the 2.5 miles of trails throughout the park.
