The Arizona-Sonora Museum celebrates and studies the unique ecosystem of the Sonoran Desert. This is a great day to spend the day while in Tucson.

Over the Tucson Mountains, past the hairpin turns of Gate Pass, you'll eventually reach the grounds of the sprawling and magnificent Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. This is not a museum in the sense of artifacts locked under glass, but rather a living museum of native flora and animals. If you're lucky, you may catch a glimpse of the elusive javelina, coyotes, or mountain lions. Bird-lovers will appreciate the large aviary and hummingbird exhibit. There are several on-site dining choices available, and the large gift shop features a small bookstore of desert-related literature.
