Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum

  • Type: Zoos/Aquariums
  • NileGuide Expert Says:

The Arizona-Sonora Museum celebrates and studies the unique ecosystem of the Sonoran Desert. This is a great day to spend the day while in Tucson.

  • Description:

    • Over the Tucson Mountains, past the hairpin turns of Gate Pass, you'll eventually reach the grounds of the sprawling and magnificent Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. This is not a museum in the sense of artifacts locked under glass, but rather a living museum of native flora and animals. If you're lucky, you may catch a glimpse of the elusive javelina, coyotes, or mountain lions. Bird-lovers will appreciate the large aviary and hummingbird exhibit. There are several on-site dining choices available, and the large gift shop features a small bookstore of desert-related literature.
