    There's a great uncrowded beach in this reserve to hang out on all day, but if you want to see more of the reserve, be sure to book an organized tour, as there are few trails and no signage.

    Description:

    • This 1.3 million acre biosphere reserve boasts lagoons, tropical forests, mangrove swamps and barrier reefs and is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including crocodiles, flamingos, tropical blooms and manatees. To reach the reserve, Cozumel visitors take the 30-minute ferry ride to Playa del Carmen on the mainland followed by an 1.5-hour bus ride to Tulum. Tours can be made in the town of Tulum.
