Hello,
Mahebourg, a small village in the southern part of Mauritius and is a beautiful and idyllic seaside town surrounded by impressive mountains.
Mahébourg doesn't have a beach, but it has a beautiful waterfront. It is very popular for evening strolls and in case you get tired, lots of bench are awaiting you.
There's a jetty with a pavillion from with you can see quite some nice tropical fish
The Famous Mahebourg Market only on Mondays
Colourful and convivial, the market is to be visited in the morning. Full of variety, it has a food section, a section for cloths and one for souvenirs.
The Church " Notre Dame Des Anges "
This beautiful colonial church was built in 1849, but has been modified and restored a few times over the years
The Museum " National History Museum "
The National History (or Naval) Museum is housed in a beautiful Creole mansion from the 18th century. The exhibits guide you through the differents phases of Mauritian history. Separate rooms have been dedicated to the Dutch, French and the British periodes.
You will also see some recovered objects from shipwrecks along the Mauritian coast, like the bell of the St. Géran which sank back in 1744 or items from the Magiciennes, a British frigate which sank during the French-British naval battle in 1810.
Blue Bay Beach
As the name tells us , their is a beach near Mahebourg (15mins) , the blue bay, a blue turquoise beach very nice for swimming and sunbath.
