Vail is the largest single-mountain ski area in North America, offering guests 4,644 acres of skiable terrain. The ski area stretches seven miles from east to west. Vail's legendary Back Bowls boast 2,734 acres of wide-open terrain and panoramic mountain range vistas. Vail's immense lift system includes 10 high-speed quads, a gondola and a network of 26 chair lifts. Adventure Ridge, Vail's mountaintop activity center, offers a variety of activities including tubing, ice skating, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, ski-biking, laser tag, and other adventures for skiers and non-skiers alike.
Life off the slopes begins in Vail Village, an Austrian-inspired hub of activities with over 70 restaurants, excellent shopping and extraordinary lodge accommodations. Spacious hotels, quaint bed-and-breakfast inns and comfortable homes, and condominiums provide something for everyone's taste and budget. All properties located in Vail's three main base areas Lionshead, Vail Village and Golden Peak are within a five-minute walk to the slopes. Outlying areas such as East and West Vail are accessible by a free bus system. Avon and Beaver Creek Resort are a 15 minute drive or bus ride down the valley.
