Description:

  • A nun named Mother Joseph founded the Academy, among many other charitable institutions, in the 1870s. The Vancouver landmark has served as Clark County's first convent, hospital, orphanage and school. Built entirely from brick that was produced in the area, it was a great development for the new Western territories. Centrally located near Officers Row and Fort Vancouver, the renovated building is now partially open to the public. The chapel and ballroom can be toured by appointment.
