Vancouver has a large Asian population, which makes finding mouth watering Japanese, Korean, Malaysian and Chinese restaurants a cinch. Vancouverites love their sushi and this will come as no surprise when you bite into a mouthful of fresh BC fish.
Next to San Fransisco, Vancouver home of the second largest Chinatown in North America, so make sure to spend some time in walking around the intriguing streets. While you're there, you will want to take a picture of the Millennium Gate; it's a beautiful piece of artwork that welcomes you into Chinatown.
One of the best ways to experience Chinatown is to go there for the Night Market, it's full of many unique sights, sounds and smells! It's an ideal location to pick up a unique souvenir. Sometimes it helps to have people to point us in the right direction and the Chinatown Walking Tours really help in explaining the rich history that lives in that area.
Another must-do while in Chinatown is a trip to Dr Sun Yat-Sen Classical Garden. It's unlike any garden you have likely seen before, unless you have had the privilege of visiting China.
Commercial Drive was once known as Little Italy and you can still smell the aromatic espresso as you walk along the road and check out many of the eclectic shops along Commercial Drive. Fresh pastas, tasty olive oils and tangy vinegars can be bought along the Drive. Bellissimo!
Canada has deep roots in Native American history and in British Columbia we are fortunate to see the beautiful art created by local artists on a regular basis. A visit to Hill's Native Art in Gastown is most definitely worth a visit.
