    • The Sylvia is a classic European style hotel overlooking English Bay and a short walk into Stanley Park.  It is the most reasonably priced hotel in the West End.  It is quite comfortable, but shows its age. The elevators are funky and there is visible wear and tear.  But, for most, it is charming and the location can't be beat.  It is often packed with European tourists.  You can walk across the street to the beach, or in one block get to the Stanley Park Seawall or the buzzing cafes and restaurants on Denman street.   The best rooms are located on the higher floors facing English Bay. The suites have fully equipped kitchens and are large enough for families. The newer low-rise annex rooms are similar to the high rise but offer less atmosphere.

    • Spent a delightful five nights recently in the 100 yr old Sylvia. Most of the staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. The views of English Bay from the bar/dining areas...
