Description:
Jules is one of those places that is hard not to like. Like Salt (reviewed below), this casual French bistro is part of a mini-Renaissance putting new life into Gastown. Jules can be really loud, but the staff is friendly and the food is honest, unpretentious, and reasonably priced. The menu's limited to just a few standard bistro items, all of them well prepared: steak frites (rib-eye or hanger steak with french fries), cassoulet, braised lamb shank, steamed mussels, or a vegetarian shepherd's pie. You can start with classics like French onion soup, escargots in garlic and herb butter, or country-style pâté. This is a good lunch spot, too.

Love the service - the food, not so much

Absolutely loved our wacky waiter but I was not happy with any of my choices. If you find yourself there, order the steak and frites.

If you love French food go here. Great room, service, wine list, bistro decor ala Paris...the whole deal. We had a big table with a big appetite and they handled us brilliantly. ...
