Prater Events

Description:

• Formerly the royal hunting grounds, the Prater was opened to the public in 1765 and is now one of the world's best-known amusement parks. Beginning with the annual May Day Party, events are held all summer long and include the Easter Parade (Easter bunnies and musicians in traditional Austrian attire) and the famous Blumen Corso (flower parade) in mid-June. Some 100,000 spectators watch this traditional event, which boasts hundreds of beautifully decorated coaches and vintage cars. The season ends in late August or early September with a series of live concerts. Main events: Easter Parade; May Day Party; Flower Parade & School's Out Party (June), Wiener Ferienspiel (July), Wiener Ferienspiel & Praterrummel (August and September).
