Description:
- Make your stay in the Nation's Capitol unforgettable at this large, elegantly restored 19th-century residence right on historic, leafy Logan Circle. This friendly home with stylishly appointed, over-sized guest rooms is situated in walking distance of the best Washington has to offer: the National Mall, the White House and other major government buildings, world-class museums, art galleries, theaters, restaurants, upscale nightclubs, the new Convention Center, and the fabulously popular Spy Museum. It's right at the edge of the city's main business district. Feel entirely at home in rich surroundings for less than the cost of a moderately priced hotel. THE HOUSE: Built for a wealthy undersecretary of the treasury in the Chester A. Arthur Administration, this sprawling 1883 townhouse with mahogany paneled staircase spiraling up three stories and sweeping double parlors is situated directly on historic Logan Circle, overlooking one of city designer Charles Pierre L'Enfant's "special places." Made for entertaining in a grand style, it has been featured in a Discovery Channel special, on the Logan Circle Victorian Christmas House Tour, and has been the site of many National Geographic Society departmental Christmas parties. Among the home's features are 11-foot ceilings with heavy plaster crown moldings, matched crystal chandeliers, gilded pier mirrors, fortress-thick walls, and eight fireplaces. Oil paintings along with antiques from the Romanesque Revival, Empire and Eastlake periods grace the generously proportioned rooms. In the Victorian manner, the home is lavishly decorated for the Christmas holidays THE ACCOMMODATIONS: Four unusually spacious, smoke-free guest rooms feature thick walls, high ceilings, crown moldings, decorative fireplaces and period antiques. Each includes: · sumptuous antique queen or king sized bed with individual reading lamps · private bath with wall-mounted hair-dryer · cable TV including premiere movie channels · writing desk
