Woodley Park
Home to the Marriott Wardman Park, Sheraton Washington, and Omni Shoreham, leafy Woodley Park, with its handsome early 20th-century architecture, is a quiet enclave among the livelier nearby neighborhoods. This is a great place to base yourself if you're interested in enjoying the nightlife but don't want to be right in the middle of it.
Twenty-five restaurants pack one culinary block: Italian, Lebanese, Japanese, Indian, Vietnamese, Thai and more. Some of the standouts include New Heights, a posh Modern American restaurant at the corner of Connecticut Avenue and Calvert Street. Also worth checking out is Lebanese Taverna, with plenty of vegetarian options for non-carnivores. The National Zoo is fairly close by - stroll up Connecticut Avenue and window shop on your way. If you're looking for bars and clubs, you can walk across the Duke Ellington Bridge into Adams Morgan in about 15 minutes. If you'd rather not walk, the Circulator bus is available to ferry you back and forth.
