It's a chain, but hey, so what? Most of its other locations are in the Big Apple. This one stands out in the nation's capital for its sensational decor: a beautiful blue glass-tiled wall, over which flows a veil of water; 14-foot-high ceilings; and full-wall windows overlooking the hottest crossroads in town, at 7th and F streets, across from the Verizon Center. The place is popular. Washington Flyer magazine reports that Rosa serves "13,000 margaritas and 4,500 orders of guacamole every month." Trust those numbers, because both the guacamole and the margs are super. Other tasty items include quesadillas, grilled beef short ribs, and the queso fundido (melted cheese). Like a growing number of restaurants throughout the city, Rosa Mexicano's bar stays open from lunch until closing, even when the dining room shuts down. So if you're hungry or thirsty between lunch and dinner, stop in at the bar to consume your share of this month's quota of 13,000 margaritas and 4,500 orders of guacamole.
