- Lake Anna provides only day use facilities. The 13,000-acre lake is a favorite haven for boaters, water-skiers, fishermen and swimmers. A large beach, playground and concession are offered seasonally. An attractively landscaped visitor center offers a close up look at the former local gold mining industry. This park is very handicapped accessible. Ample parking.
At present, Lake Anna is a day use park. Coming sometime in 2002, and soon available for reservation, the park will offer a number of fully equipped cabins. Lake Anna has been a recreation haven for years. The large lake accommodates powerboats, pontoon boats, canoes and sailboats. Water-skiing is a popular sport as well as warm water fishing. The lake is regularly stocked with largemouth bass, shad, catfish and yellow perch. Sunfish are plentiful as well. The beach and playground facilities are practically unsurpassed in the state. An attractively landscaped visitor center is steeped with rich history of the gold mining industry that occurred in this area during the early 1800s. This park is very accessible for the handicapped including a fishing pond that also accommodates young children. Fees apply. The very large picnic facilities are a major attraction for family reunions, church gatherings and corporate outings.
Private camping facilities are scattered throughout the area.
Lake Anna State Park is adjacent to Route 601 off Route 208, 25 miles southwest of Fredericksburg and 55 miles northwest of Richmond.
