Library of Congress Poetry Readings

Description:

  • National Poet Laureates including the late Joseph Brodsky and Robert Penn Warren have officiated this event, one of the oldest continuing literary series in Washington. Special events have included a T.S. Eliot birthday celebration, with readings. Close to 200 people usually attend each reading during the season, which runs from October to May. The Library of Congress, with massive volumes, is a perfect setting for a poetry reading.
