National Museum of the Marine Corps

Description:

  • Thousands of artifacts, interactive displays, and moving exhibits await you at the National Museum of the Marine Corps, located a short distance outside of Washington DC. With stunning renovations completed in 2006, this museum stands as a lasting tribute to the soldiers who have given their lives in battle. Artifacts from the Revolutionary War to the Vietnam Conflict are on display, and the exhibit devoted to World War II is especially poignant. Included in the collection are pieces such as the American flag that was raised at Iwo Jima- which inspired the famous memorial in Arlington- and a moving account of the Bataan Death March. Admission is free.
