Rock Creek to Maryland Bike Route

• This route is recommended for weekend travel thanks to the National Park Service restricting Beach Drive to bike and pedestrian traffic during the weekends, 7 A.M. - 7 P.M.

  This is a beautiful bike journey that begins from the Pierce Mill parking lot heading in a northbound direction with Rock Creek lying to your right. Expect to travel through stately hardwoods, past beautiful wildflower meadows, soak in sights of gorgeous estates, and enjoy the cooler temperatures rising from the rushing waters where wildlife gathers. A real treat along the road is Woodend, the headquarters for the Central Atlantic Branch of the Audubon Society. Their 40-acre property is landscaped to support a variety of habitats attracting large volumes of wildlife to this metropolitan oasis. Take a piece of Woodend home with you. Their lovely gift shop carries a wide range of gifts for all ages and tastes. Return to Beach Road, thus ending your 27-mile journey at Pierce Mill.
