Description:

  • The picnic ground at Sky Meadows State Park rests behind the historic Mount Bleak House that serves as visitor center and park office. Be sure to venture inside for a peek. This lovely restored building gives the visitor a look at middle-class life during the 1850s.

Around back rests the small picnic area with a shelter (first-come, first-served) and a smattering of tables overlooking beautiful rolling pastures. Notice the lack of satellite towers. Area citizens in conjunction with Virginia State Parks have gone to great lengths to preserve the 1850s view.

The area includes drinking water, grills and modern restrooms. Footsteps away lay a charming gift shop. Signs in the parking lot direct the way.
