Description:
- NMHF offers Washington, DC's first and only community sailing program. There are both "Learn to Sail" - lessons for adults, and "Kids Set Sail" - summer lessons for youth. "Friday Night Cruises" are schooner cruises offered every other Friday. Lessons and rentals take place at the Gangplank Marina on the Southwest Waterfront (600 Water St SW) We provide sailing lessons, boat rentals, Schooner cruises and fleet racing on the Washington Channel for both youth and adults. Learn to Sail offers the incredible opportunity to get your internationally accepted sailing certification from US Sailing right here at home in the DC Metro area. The beginner lesson course consists of 4 classes with a trained instructor and up to four other novice sailors aboard our brand new 19-foot Flying Scot sailboats. Our mission is to provide access to the water, regardless of means, by the establishment of a full-scale community sailing facility along the Washington, DC waterfront. NMHF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to offering sailing scholarships to underprivileged youth. You must sign up for lessons and rentals in advance.
