Description:
- The Scene
One of L.A.'s oldest clubs, the Troub established its reputation hosting singer-songwriters and rock bands. After an uncharacteristic stint hosting heavy metal in the '80s, it rebounded in the '90s breaking acts like No Doubt and Gomez. The all-ages policy means varied crowds, but a full bar ensures the over-21 contingent will feel right at home. For a bird's-eye view of the small stage, head to the bench-seating balcony. VIPs make their way to the Loft, where there are plenty of comfortable couches to sit on while watching the show through the window or on the television monitors.
The Draw
The club reached legendary status in the late '60s and early '70s, when it served as a springboard for artists like Tom Waits, Emmylou Harris and the Eagles. Music lovers relish the opportunity to catch future superstars before they start selling out amphitheaters--recent case in point: The Killers.
