- Just when you thought the Sunset Strip didn't have enough aggressively hip hotels, this place enters the fray. A former convalescent hotel, this building underwent major plastic surgery and emerged with curvy balconies and upside-down signage. Distinguishing it from the crowd are its on-site tattoo parlor and late checkout times, just what the rock 'n' roll crowd ordered. A coffee shop and restaurant are onsite and offer baby blue tables along with a memorable preparations of steaks, seafood and salads.

When I got my credit card statement, The Standard charged an extra $10.88 in additional to $90 mandatory valet parking. When I called they said (you guessed it...the old mini bar trick)....

The restaurant is open 24 hours. Outdoor heated pool. Workout facilities are available at the neighboring Crunch gym. Valet parking is $15/day. Barber shop and tattoo parlor.
