No Snow Doesn't Mean, No Fun

Description:

Whistler is a year-round great family vacation spot. When the snow melts, Whistler becomes alive with bike riders, hikers and people that just love the great outdoors. This guide mixes a bit of indoor fun with a whole lot of outdoor activities that will excite you and the kids.

Day 1 - Whistler

The comforting smell of freshly baked bread will lead your nose, and your stomach, to Gone Bakery for some tasty breakfast. Make sure to get some good carbs in because you and the kids will be hitting Whistler Mountain Bike Park all morning long. Whistler Mountain Bike Park brings people of all skills, from all over the world because the trails accommodate just about everyone. The Bike Park just goes to show that Whistler is still a very busy an thriving mountain, even when the snow has melted! There's a strong chance that you and your bike will get quite muddy, so why not make sure that you get both messy activities in on the same day? Before you make it over to Whistler Paintball, grab an ice cream cone from Cow's Whistler. That cool tasty cream is the perfect treat after a morning of healthy exercise. Whistler Paintball is a hit with kids. It's open seven days a week and is great for increasing that sibling rivalry. After a very active day everyone will be ready to eat a satisfying meal. Whistler is home to many fine dining restaurants, but picky kids might not like what they have to offer. Milestone's is a great family restaurant because they serve innovative meals that parents will like, and food that kids will think is great. You will all get a comfortable night sleep at The Sundial Boutique Hotel. This hotel may be a bit pricier than other options, but the suite style kitchen could save you money on going out for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are plenty of grocery stores in Whistler that you can grab some groceries and make your own meals.

Day 2 - Whistler

After making breakfast in your suite at The Sundial Boutique Hotel, get the kids ready to leave Whistler and go spend the day watching Bald Eagles in Brackendale. Bald Eagle Viewing is fantastic for all ages. The drive out to Brackendale is a beautiful way to spend an hour in the car, and it’s quite the treat to see the thousands of Bald Eagles that await you. There are water no facilities, so make sure to grab a picnic and bottles of water to take with you. It's easy to make a day of this because there are plenty of trails to hike, and watching the magnificent birds can last for ages. If you have had a chance to get your British Columbia fishing license, take advantage of the great fishing in Brackendale. Over 3700 Bald Eagles come to this area to catch some tasty salmon, so why don't you too? If you are an avid rock climber, there are also rock-climbing opportunities in the Squamish area. After a long day of hiking and bird watching, both you and the kids will have worked up a healthy appetite. Teppan Village is a great spot because it provides both tasty food and great entertainment. Your personal chef will cook right infront of you and put on a good show with lots of fire and fancy tricks. Forget what you ever told your children about playing with their food, because these chefs make playing with food look like too much fun!

Day 3 - Whistler

Chocolate and strawberry crepes for breakfast will definitely make the kids feel like they are on vacation! Crepe Montagne is a busy spot in the morning, but the sweet and savory crepes are certainly worth it. There's something about crepes and mountains that go hand-in-hand. This indulgent breakfast provides a great amount of energy to use while you spend the day on the river with Whistler River Adventures. Being on the water and getting splashed by rapids will be entertaining for both you, and your children. They offer various skill levels, so no need to worry about being a pro. The scenery is also quite epic and it's a nice way to cool off on a warm summer day. People think of Whistler as a place that's covered in snow all year long, but the hot summer days will make you forget about that white powder. Your eventful day fighting rapids and rocks will work up an appetite. Earl's Bistro is in Whistler Village and is a great restaurant for families. It's quite contemporary and chic inside, but the price point and menu items will make everyone in your family happy. After dinner, take a stroll through Whistler Village before hitting the hay.

Day 4 - Whistler

If you aren't exhausted yet, that's good because you have another adventurous day soaring like a bird through the trees. Your breakfast at Ingrid's Village Café is a short walk away from your hotel and will fill your belly and not drain your wallet. The toasted bagel with cream cheese, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs is delicious! When you were a kid, do you remember wanting to fly? Well, Ziptrek & TreeTrek Ecotours will make you relive your childhood dream and fulfill your kids’ dreams. It's an incredible feeling to be strapped into a harness and soar at rocket speed through the forest. It's unlike anything you have ever done. After you have taken advantage of ziptrekking, you should do the TreeTrek Ecotours. Not only to you get exercise and gain some knowledge, but also the views are spectacular. British Columbia serves some of the best sushi around and Sachi Sushi will give you your fill. Adventurous kids will be happy with the menu, and picky eaters will also be able to find something that will meet their taste. It's a healthful way to finish off the day and experience some of B.C.'s favorite cuisine.

Day 5 - Whistler

Elements Urban Tapas will start you day off right with their delicious fruit smoothies (you get a free shot, on the house) and tasty breakfasts. There's usually a small wait, so getting their before the little ones tummy's start to growl would be a good idea. Whistler has many lovely lakes to spend the day in the sun, having a picnic and playing in the water. The Beaches at Alta Lake are superb! The fresh water, mountain views and nice beaches are ideal. There are also canoes to rent there so that you can explore the vast lake. Dinner at the Whistler Brewhouse is going to be a crowd pleaser. The menu has everything from pastas, burgers, pizza and fresh food right off the grill! They use quality ingredients without charging high prices. You have spent almost a week in Whistler and have yet to buy a souvenir. Instead of buying one, why not make your own at Expressions Art Studio? They offer everything from making your own jewelry, painting your own pottery and feature an in-house artist to help guide you. It's a fantastic way to bring your memories home.
