Description:
- The Lookout Canyon Trail system runs through the bottom of Lookout Canyon (#120), Pratt Canyon (#121) and on a ridge into Lookout Canyon (#122). These narrow canyons are heavily forested with Ponderosa pine, spruce, fir and aspen as well as having a number of small grassy meadows. The trails offer a cool area to hike or to ride during the heat of summer as well as a pleasant display of tree colors during the fall.
Directions from Kaibab Plateau Visitor Center: From Jacob Lake drive south on AZ 67 for .3 mile to Forest Development Road (FR) 461, turn right on 461 and drive approximately 6 miles to FR 462. Drive approximately 3 miles on FR 462 to FR 22, turn to the left on FR 22.For the northern trailhead for Trail #120, drive approximately 7 miles on FR 22 to FR 429, drive about 1/4 mile to FR 226 and turn right.For the trailhead for Trail #121, turn left on FR 22 from FR 462, drive approximately 8 miles to the trailhead located on the left side of the road.For the trailhead for Trail #122, continue on FR 22 past the trailhead for Trail #121 for an additional 2.5 miles to the trailhead, also located on the left side of FR 22.
