Description:
Built in 1914, the Marlborough retains its vaulted ceilings, Tiffany chandeliers, English stained-glass windows, and exquisite walnut-paneled dining room from a more opulent era. As part of a newly completed C$2-million remodel, all guest rooms have been fully renovated, with several expanded into very large suites. The rooms boast all new beds, pillow-top mattresses, and 27-inch flatscreen TVs. The updating also converted an adjoining building into a conference center, making the Marlborough the largest convention hotel facility in Winnipeg, though the very moderate prices make this an attractive lodging for the general traveler. The Marlborough also features a new indoor pool, waterslide, and complimentary fitness center. At least, glance in at the faux-medieval Olde Normandy coffee shop and sumptuous Churchill's Dining Room, where the British prime minister indeed once dined.
